When you shift a portion of your home charging to hours outside your smart schedule optimized by WeaveGrid, you will receive a lower daily smart charging score. An opt-out will occur when 50% or more of your at-home charging on a particular calendar day occurs outside WeaveGrid’s optimized schedule.
Therefore, overriding your WeaveGrid schedule results in a greater likelihood of not meeting the daily 50% threshold and registering an opt-out for that day. Overriding includes:
- Clicking “Charge Now” in the Tesla app or console, or replying ‘Charge now’ to our Scheduled Charge text
- Editing the ‘Start Charging At’ or ‘Depart By’ settings in the Tesla app or console after WeaveGrid has set an optimized schedule
BGE will notify you via email when you have reached three opt-out days in one month. A maximum of 4 opt-out days are permitted per month to remain eligible for the $10 monthly bill credit. BGE will notify you via email once you have exceeded the monthly opt-out limit and you will not receive the bill credit for that month.
A maximum of 2 months with 4 or more opt-outs are allowed within a calendar year to remain in the Smart Charge Management Program.
To reduce the likelihood of recording opt-outs, we recommend:
- Only overriding your charge schedule if needed for immediate transportation needs
Plugging your car in every day - Reviewing your Target Battery Level and Depart By settings to align with your needs (Visit your dashboard to set your Departure Time for each day of the week and view your Target Battery Level)
