Our algorithms optimize your charging for when costs are lowest and grid strain is down, provided there’s enough time to get to your target battery level by the daily departure time you set
Under some circumstances, to ensure that we meet your mobility needs, your EV may charge during on-peak periods. Reasons for this include:
- Your EV’s daily departure time and target battery level are such that there was insufficient time to charge exclusively during off-peak hours.
- Your EV has less than 20% state of charge (SOC), and you have 'Avoid low battery levels' enabled.
- You aren't enrolled in a time-of-use rate, and on-peak charging was determined to provide localized grid benefits by balancing the electrical load in your neighborhood.
- You’re enrolled with a Toyota or Lexus. When you plug in, WeaveGrid sends an optimized charge schedule to your vehicle. A brief charging session may occur during this process.
- You are a new user, and we have yet to collect enough information about your vehicle to effectively manage your charging. To learn more, check out: When will I receive my first automatic smart charging schedule?
If you would prefer to exclusively charge your vehicle during off-peak times, you can enable the 'Only lowest cost charging' feature in the WeaveGrid dashboard. To learn more about this feature, check out: What are Charge Preferences and how do they work?
